Maltese elections 2008

It may sound a bit far-fetched to compare my home country, Malta, to Femi Kuti's, Nigeria, when it comes to politics and corruption. Yet corruption has wormed its way into practically every aspect of life on the isle of honey. This earned us a 33rd-place ranking on the 2007 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index.

There are a lot of unexplainable and interesting facts in the corruption levels reported in the CPI. Did you see how corrupt Irak has become after the invasion of the country by the yankee army?
I believe that corruption is always bound to power, and power is always linked to money. Power-Money-Corruption, they cannot live without each other: if we destroy one we destroy them all. My solution consists in eliminate the very root of the problem: money. Can this be possible? I think the answer is 'not for now'. We just need a little more time...

Hola Rebelde, thanks for your comments :) Yes indeed, I guess money is the root of all evil. It's so obvious yet it sounds like a platitude! Eduardo Galeano, whom I know you admire, has a lot to say about this (I'll post a video related to this straight away; you may know it). So does Joseph Stiglitz in Globalization and its discontents, a book you probably know. Eliminating money? hehe. We'd only end up replacing it with something similar I guess! Consuming less would already be a great step forward. Interesing article on the subject in this month's The Ecologist (sorry, I am very one-track minded I guess! hehe). Well, I can say that to eliminate the money is something that even more powerful entities than us are trying to do right now. The implantation of electronic devices that work as invisible credit cards while you shop or travel are closer than ever in this high-tech era. The money is, nowadays, something more virtual than real. The stock market, for instance, moves, transfers, and trades zillions of intangible assets in picoseconds worldwide. This is not real money it is a virtual one. Of course, the real money is playing a part in this story ('a sad one') as well but in slightly different levels, something that you can surely experiment in your daily life.
Money can disappear if we find the proper way to do so. I'm working on it ;o) I cannot believe -or accept?- that humans cannot find a way to solve this mess that we have created, Yes, that is called hope, maybe.

P.S., All your posts are great!
